APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Kevin Allgaier made a motion to approve the minutes of January 17, 2006 with the following correction:  change paragraph 6 on page 1 to read “Paul Casarez , Executive Director of the Indian Lake Nazarene Camp, has requested variance relief from front yard setbacks in order to erect a ramp from the Main Street entrance at the Camp-owned property at 7956 Central Street.”  James Laure supported the motion, and it was passed unanimously.

REQUEST FOR A VARIANCE BY GLENN & OLEVIA  STATLER

Glenn and Olevia Statler, 11717 South 34th Street, have requested a variance to temporarily place and reside in a travel trailer on the property they own at the above address while rebuilding a home lost to a fire.  Chairman James Dyke opened the Public Hearing and expressed his concern for the Statler’s loss.

There has been no written correspondence received about this matter.

Brady Township Supervisor Lee Philport has granted permission to the Statlers to place a travel trailer on their property until the ZBA meeting this evening as long as they were hooked up to the existing water and sewer.

Kevin Allgaier noted that the Township Board is currently examining ordinances from other townships that allow temporary placement of travel trailers in certain situations.

Joe Timko asked how much time is being requested for the temporary arrangement.  The Statlers responded that they are requesting a year.

Chairperson Dyke went over the variance standards that must be met in order to approve a variance request (p. 183 of the Brady Township Zoning Ordinance).  There was a consensus among the Zoning Board members that all standards have been met.

Four neighbors attended the meeting and voiced their support for the Statlers’ request.

After further discussion, James Laure made a motion to approve the Statlers’ request to place a trailer on their property for a period not to exceed one year, while rebuilding their home. Kevin Allgaier seconded the motion, and it was passed unanimously.

There was a motion by James Laure to adjourn the meeting a 7:20, supported by Kevin Allgaier and passed unanimously.

Respectfully submitted,
