BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
December 5, 2006
Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Guthrie and Vander Kamp.
Others Present: Approximately 35 others.
Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Philport. The invocation was given by VanderKamp. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
** Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp. Motion Carried.
. ** Approval of Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved as follows with the exception of item “c” to be removed, by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp.
a. Approval of the minutes of the 9/05/06 Regular meeting.
b. Approval of Treasurers and Budget Reports
c. Approval of Disbursements and Transfers - REMOVED
d. Communications
Motion Carried.
** c. Approval of Disbursements and Transfers. A motion was made by Allgaier and seconded by Vermeulen to transfer $25 from Professional Service to Election Board Wages. Motion Carried.
Citizens Time: T Poole questioned the proposed private air strip on 28th st. Philport reported that this has been referred to SCMCCI as this is zoned RR and is only allowed in AG with a special exception use permit.
SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:
**A. Land Division Fees: B. Brousseau explained costs and time involved for splits and presented the proposed new fees for land splits. He also reaffirmed the need for detailed drawings or maps of the areas to be addressed. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp to change our fees to $200 for the first split and $100 for each additional split, and $200 for lot line adjustments. After discussion, Guthrie amended her motion to be $200 for the first split and $100 for each additional split, and $100 for lot line adjustments, also seconded by VanderKamp. Motion Carried.
**B. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Audit Report: Philport presented the draft of the audit report. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to approve this audit report for the Fire Authority. Motion Carried.
** C. Re-appoint Board of Review: Vermeulen presented the current roster of Board of Review members. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to re-appoint Gary Sherman, David Locey and Aileen Greanya to two years terms each. Motion Carried.
** D. Storm Water Lawsuit: Philport explained the winning of the lawsuit with Kalamazoo and Comstock Townships that showed they did not operate any storm water discharge sewers. The cost to finish our reports on this for 2006 will be $200 - $500. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to have Prein & Newhoff do our final reports for 2006 and submit them with a disclaimer letter from our attorney informing them of our withdrawal of any future action. Motion Carried 4-1. The Supervisor will also continue working with the other Townships on this matter.
**E. Kalamazoo Township Legal Support Funds: Philport updated on other townships that have given monetary support to their legal fees. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to support them in their legal fees by $1000. Motion Carried.
F. South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport reported that selected hookup letters have been sent out.
G. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that their fund balance should be sufficient for the coming year. The ambulance may need some additional assistance, as volunteers are no longer allowed and must be paid.
H. Poverty Guidelines: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie to adopt the Federal Poverty Guidelines for the current year. Motion Carried.
I. Water Testing Program: The County Health Department is starting a program of putting water testing bottles into local governmental offices for residents to pick up. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Guthrie to support this program by allowing these bottles here for distribution. Motion Carried.

**Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:34 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
