BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
December 2, 2008
Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustee Guthrie. Absent: Trustee VanderKamp.
Others Present: 23 others.
Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. Vermeulen gave the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
** Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed, by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen. Motion Carried.
** Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed with the addition of the 11/25/08 Special Meeting minutes, by a motion, from Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie.
1. Approval of 11/11/08 regular and 11/25/08 Special Meeting minutes.
2. Approval of Budget Report
3. Approval of Disbursements and Transfers
4. Communications.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:
** A. Set Date for Approval of 425 Agreement with Village: A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to set 12/30/08 at 9:00 a.m. for the date of a Special Board meeting to finalize the 425 Agreement with the Village. Motion Carried.
** B. Medical Insurance Percentage Adjustment: Allgaier updated on the results of polling the other Townships for medical insurance coverage amounts. After discussion, a motion was made by Guthrie to raise the amount by 2%. With there being no second to this motion, the motion failed. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to increase the amount by 3%. This was amended to be in effect until September 2009 for reevaluation of the new premium amount at that time. Motion Carried 3-1.
** C. City of Portage Flow Through Response: Philport updated. Portage wants all units involved to hold public hearings on this. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to have Supervisor Philport draft a letter to Portage and get input from the Board. This would then be approved at the January Meeting. Motion Carried.
** D. Indian Lake Weed Assessment: A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to set 1/06/09, at 7:30 p.m. as the date and time for the Public Hearing on the Indian Lake Weed Assessment District. Motion Carried.
E. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority: Philport reported that Dwight Blodgett was appointed as a member at Large for a 4 year term, and Philport was appointed as the Brady Township representative for a 4 year term. He also stated that there are plans for remodeling Station #1 in Schoolcraft for approximately $30-35,000.
F. South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport reported that at next Tuesday’s meeting discussion would be held concerning sewers and Portage. Also, will be the future plans for water for Brady and the Township and Village of Schoolcraft.

New Business: Philport shared a notice from the Kal Co Animal Services concerning barking dogs.
Report of Board Members: Allgaier reported that the tax bills and newsletter are out, and that dog license sales are way up. She also will check on the need for SCMCCI to send staff here during the winter months. Philport reported that a representative from the insurance company would be here to evaluate the hall. He also updated on the citation with the district court concerning an ADA complaint. He has contacted our insurance company for possible coverage on this matter.
** Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:28 P.M. by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
