BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

 

January 4, 2005

 

 

Members Present:, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Green and Guthrie. Absent: Supervisor Philport.

 

Others Present: Approximately 17 others.

 

Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Clerk Vermeulen. With the Supervisor being absent, Vermeulen appointed Trustee Guthrie to be the moderator for the meeting. The Invocation was given by Green. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier. Motion Carried.

 

**        Minutes Approval: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to approve the minutes of the 12/07/04 general meeting as printed. Motion Carried.

 

**        Treasurer=s Report: The Treasurer’s report was approved by a motion from Allgaier and seconded by Vermeulen. Motion Carried.

 

Communications: None

 

**        Disbursements and Transfers: A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Green to approve payment of the bills as presented. Motion Carried.

 

**        A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to approve a budget transfer of $100 from Professional Services to Election Wages. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Allgaier, Guthrie, Vermeulen, and Green. Absent: Philport.

 

Citizens Time: Rick Green from the KCSD distributed copies of the 2004 violations report for Brady Township. Q&A followed on numerous topics. He will get back to us on irrigation spray over the roads.

 

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:

 

A.    Change Term of Library Representatives: Bev Haas presented a letter requesting changing the term of District Library Representatives from January through December, to March through February. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to approve this change of term. Motion Carried

 

            A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to extend the current terms to expire 2/28/05. Motion Carried.

 

B.     Appoint PC and ZBA Board Members: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Green to re-appoint Todd Weddon and Ed Haberle to the Planning Commission. Motion Carried.

 

            A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to re-appoint Mike Oswalt as an alternate member to the Zoning Board of Appeals. Motion Carried.

 

C.        Roads - Budget Planning 2005: Guthrie explained the Par funds. Green then explained possible projects for 2005. Numerous residents were in attendance and requested that ditching be done on portions of S. 31st Street, and follow that with re-paving. Vermeulen said that the road committee is working on a possible ordinance for enforcement of ditches and maintenance of 12' ROW.

 

D.        Budget Assignments: Budget forms were distributed to the Board to begin work on the 2005-2006 Budget.

 

                        E.        South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Guthrie updated on Sprinkle Road.

 

                        F.         South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Nothing to report.

 

Unfinished Business: None

 

New Business: Green reported that work is being done to apply for a grant from the Vicksburg Foundation to finish landscaping around the Tank and Memorial.

Vermeulen showed the Board a letter that our attorney wanted to be sent to all of the ZBA members.

 

Report of Board Members: Vermeulen gave an update on how school elections will be handled under the new election consolidation laws. Green said the committee is picking away at road projects, and appreciated the input from the citizens.

 

**        Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:23 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
