BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
October 4, 2005
Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Vander Kamp and Guthrie.
Others Present: Approximately 39 others.
Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Supervisor Philport. The Invocation was given by Philport. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
** Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp. Motion Carried.
. ** Approval of Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved as follows by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier:
a. Approve the minutes of the 9/06/05 regular meeting.
b. Approval of Treasurer’s and Budget reports.
c. Addressed communications
d. Approved disbursements and transfers as presented

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:
**A. Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce: After discussion, a motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to become a member of the new Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce. Motion Carried.
**B. Land Transfer to Village for Sewer Hook up: Philport updated on the transfer of a 50X70 foot parcel of land adjacent to the Township Hall in exchange for a sewer hook up for the Township Hall at no charge to the Township. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp to authorize Supervisor Philport to sign the agreement for this transfer. A roll call vote brought YES votes from the following: Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, Vermeulen, and Vander Kamp. Motion Carried.
C. Updating of Township Hall: Philport reported that he is working with an architect to draw up plans to use for bidding on the roof, HVAC, and removing old heating base boards and replacing with a new covering.
**D. Approve Storm Water PEP: Philport updated on the Storm Water Public Education Plan that we are to prepare. After discussion, a motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vander Kamp to table a decision on this until next month to get more information on what is actually covered, what our costs will be and who the mandating agency and reasoning is. Motion Carried.
**E. Fire Lane Maintenance: Philport requested, on behalf of the Fire Authority that we have the fire lane to Indian Lake cleared, as it is in need of attention. This is the fire lane for the Adams plats and the Nazarene camp. The fire authority will clean, level, and install a dry hydrant and security gate. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vander Kamp to appropriate $370 to cover expense to have this done. Motion Carried.
F. South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: See B above. Also, Sprinkle road sewer project is almost completed, with numerous complaints about the KCRC on follow-up, per Philport.
G. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Village of Schoolcraft is working with the owners of two warehouses that burned, to be able to rebuild within code.
Unfinished Business: Philport questioned the status of the Humane Society mobile unit. Vermeulen stated that she has signed and returned the agreement to them. Vermeulen questioned the SCVL billing from last month. Guthrie stated that she has talked with Joe Walls and he will be contacting us to discuss this bill.
**New Business: Allgaier stated that she is getting bids to finish the landscaping around the Veterans memorial. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to allow her to spend up to $3100 of the allotted funds to finish this project. Motion Carried.
Report of Board Members: Vermeulen brought up a violation we are currently working to resolve. This should set a precedent for future handling of difficult violations.
**Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:35 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Philport to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
