BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

September 6, 2005



Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustee Vander Kamp. Absent: Trustee Guthrie.


Others Present: Approximately 27 others.


Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Supervisor Philport. The Invocation was given by Vermeulen. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp. Motion Carried.

 

. **      Approval of Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved as follows by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier:

 

                   a. Approve the minutes of the 8/09/05 regular meeting.

 

                   b. Approval of Treasurer’s and Budget reports.


       c. Addressed communications


       d. Approved disbursements and transfers as presented


       e. Accept HHH Waster report for 2nd quarter


Citizens Time: State Representative Lorence Wenke spoke on the current happenings in Lansing, and gave an update on where revenues come from and are disbursed to throughout the State. He invited anyone to visit him in Lansing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.


Captain Rick Green of the KCSD gave an update on County issues. He also stated that Kalamazoo County is a model for disaster response.


           SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:

 

A.        Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce: J. Farrand spoke to us about the Vicksburg area chamber of commerce, and the benefits they offer. This will be addressed further at the October Board meeting.

 

B.        V Avenue Reclassification to Primary: Philport reported that V Avenue has been reclassified to Primary road, covered under federal funding.

 

C.     Updating of Township Hall: Vander Kamp updated on the recommendations from the committee for updating the township hall. A motion was made by Vander Kamp and seconded by Vermeulen to approve moving forward to get bids for points numbers 1-4, and 8 & 9 of the plan, which are estimated to be $83,000. Motion Carried.



 

D.     Kalamazoo Humane Society - Mobile Unit: Allgaier updated on a request from the Kal County Humane Society for parking space for their mobile unit for three days in November. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp to allow them to use space here at the Township hall for three days in November, if one other place that is being considered is unavailable. Motion Carried.

 

E.     Accept Audit: Philport reported that the annual audit has been received. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp to accept this audit as presented. Motion Carried.

 

F.        Moving of Old Township Hall: Philport reported that the Village is working with the owner of the old Township hall to trade it for a new garage, and have the old hall moved to the Historic Village.

 

G.        South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport stated that there was no meeting this month, but that the Sprinkle Road project is in progress and improvements are to be made to the lift station at the hall.

 

H.        South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that they are still working on a disaster relief team.



Unfinished Business: Allgaier said that she would be unable to attend the computer workshops on Mackinac Island in September, as it conflicts with other classes she is registered to attend. Vermeulen questioned the SCVL billing from last month, which Guthrie is handling.


New Business: None


Report of Board Members: Vermeulen reported that she is waiting to find out if the County will be requesting an election in November for a new jail facility. Allgaier reported that tax season will be over on September 14th. Philport reported on the 175th anniversary celebration, and that it should be included in the October issue of the MTA news.


**Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:27 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
