BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING

August 9, 2005



Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Guthrie and Vander Kamp.


Others Present: 2 others.


Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Supervisor Philport. The Invocation was given by Vander Kamp. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Vander Kamp. Motion Carried.

 

. ** Approval of Consent Agenda: The consent agenda was approved as follows by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie:

 

           a. Approve the minutes of the 6/07/05 regular meeting.

 

           b. Approval of Budget report.


c. Addressed communications


d. Approved disbursements and transfers as presented


e. Approved Phase II Storm Water Discharge Permit, after discussion.


Citizens Time: Jack Urban from the Friends of Transit committee spoke to us concerning the Kalamazoo County Caravan services, and their future funding needs. W. Whelan turned in a complaint which will be faxed to SCMCCI for attention.



           SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:

 

A.        KCRC - 33rd St. Project: The problems with the KCRC in general and the 33rd St project, and the 31st St. project were discussed, as was the basin on E. Indian Lake Drive. The Supervisors are trying to work with the KCRC for better results.

 

B.        Railroad Crossing: Philport updated on the railroads. Some local crossings will be fixed by the KCRC using a Canadian National flagman.

 

**C.     Approval of PA 116 for Klein: Vermeulen made a motion, seconded by Guthrie, to accept the application from Vincent & David Klein for a PA 116 Agreement. This was approval to forward to the following governmental units for their approval and on to the State. Motion Carried.

 

D.        175th Anniversary of Brady Township: August 24th at 6:00 p.m. we will be hosting the County Chapter of the MTA to celebrate the 175th Anniversary of Brady Township. There will be a corn roast and picnic at the Museum followed by the regular meeting at the hall.

 

E.        South County Sewer & Water Authority: Philport reported that Byholt has begun work on the Sprinkle road contract. The Village line is done to UV ave.

 

F.        South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that the fire dept. has received a request from the Hospital and Village for a disaster control program for South County. The fire authority will take charge of co-ordinating this.


Unfinished Business: Guthrie questioned the results of the presentation on the Meth labs and jail proposal held last month. Philport said that it was a good presentation


New Business: Philport reported that the audit is screened and will be presented at the September meeting.


Report of Board Members: Vermeulen reported on the upcoming Fall District Meetings for MTA, and that the turnout was 22% for the August 2 election. Philport reported on an upcoming seminar on computers to be held on Mackinac Island in September, and suggested that our Treasurer attend. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Philport to have the Treasurer check into costs & appropriate funds if necessary for her to attend. Motion Carried.

Allgaier reported that the Vicksburg Chamber of Commerce is soliciting membership. This will be further checked into and placed on the September agenda. Guthrie will be attending a workshop in Lansing to continue her Level II Assessor license. Philport gave an update on the situation of the office of the Drain Commissioner for Kal Co. Services of the SESC will be separated from that office.


**Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 9:04 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Vander Kamp to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
