BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
June 3, 2008
Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier and Trustee Guthrie. Absent: Trustee VanderKamp.
Others Present: Approximately 11 others.
Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. Vermeulen gave the invocation. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
** Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved with the addition of A.1 to add Pat Krause, Drain Commissioner, by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie. Motion Carried.
** Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed by a motion, from Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier.

Citizens Time: Sandra Nowak, introduced herself as a candidate for 8th District Court Judge.
SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:
** A. KCRC B Approve Road Contracts for 2008: Joanna Johnson, Managing Director of the KCRC, and the entire 5 member Board was in attendance, along with the new Road Superintendent. Philport updated that our proposed projects for this year are:
Dust control on gravel roads $ 9,000
XY Ave 32nd to 33rd St 49,895
XY Ave 33rd St. East 89,375
Par funds are $ 40,457 $148,270
Brady Budget 109,000
Total Available $149,457
A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to approve these contracts for road projects for 2008 with the above figures. Motion Carried.
A.1 Pat Krause, Drain Commissioner: Krause distributed info on the county drains, and updated on the workings of the Drain Commissioners office. He reported that Brady has 35 drains, and most need maintenance.
** B. Waste Haulers Contract with Kalamazoo County: Philport updated on the Residential Waste Reduction Ordinance Intergovernmental Contract. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to adopt this agreement. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, and Vermeulen. Absent: VanderKamp. Motion Carried.
C. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport presented the Fire Authority newsletter. He reported that the fire truck that was damaged last winter would be replaced at a cost of $6000 for a bigger truck. He also said that the ambulance is working on a fundraiser for an ambulacart.
D. South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport reported that they are continuing to study the 131 sewer problem and are still trying to deal with Portage.

** New Business: The Township Attorney, Craig Rolfe addressed the Board with the news that he will be leaving Bauckham, Sparks, Rolfe, Lohrstorfer & Thall, P.C. as of July. He requested to be remain the Township attorney of record at his new firm. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to appoint Craig A. Rolfe, PLLC as the Brady Township attorney. Motion Carried.
Report of Board Members: Allgaier reported that she has received her CPFA certification. Vermeulen reported that she will be at the state MAMC conference next week, congratulated Allgaier for her certification, and reported on the success of sending election results in to County by modem on election night. Philport reported that we are now receiving annual reports from the Library.
** Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 9:22 P.M. by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
