BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING
June 2, 2009
Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees VanderKamp and Smith.
Others Present: Approximately 10 others.
Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. Vermeulen gave the invocation followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
** Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp. Motion Carried.
** Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier.
1. Approval of 5/12/09 regular meeting minutes.
2. Approval of Budget Report
3. Approval of Disbursements and Transfers
4. Communications.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:
** A. Approve Road Contract with KCRD – Dust Control: Philport updated on the dust control project. A different process will be utilized, using a lighter calcium chloride at $360 per mile for a total of $4,219 overall. We will request two applications of this. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Smith to approve this contract. Motion Carried.
** B. Resignation of ZBA member: Philport reported on a conflict of interest with one of our ZBA members. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to have Philport request this member’s resignation. Motion Carried.
C. South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that plans are being prepared for remodeling station #1, with a proposed July start date, at a cost of $100,000. Also that 18 firefighters have graduated from the fire academy
D. South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport reported that the flow through contracts with Portage from 131 in Schoolcraft are in process.
Unfinished Business: None
New Business: Vermeulen reported that the gentleman who handled our critters at the cemetery last year has offered to do this again this year. He gets $25 per animal captured. He will also do some minor trimming of brush while he is there. The Board welcomed this service.
Report of Board Members: Vermeulen reported on a committee she is on for Election Day modernization at the State level. Smith reported that the Planning Commission would have the updated land use document in their hands with in the next week for review, and that new zoning maps will be here this week. Allgaier said that summer taxes are in process and will be out by July 1. She also reminded members to have any articles they want in the next newsletter to get them to her ASAP.
** Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 7:48 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Smith to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
