BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


May 13, 2008




Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier and Trustees VanderKamp and Guthrie.


Others Present: 1 other.


Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:33 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. VanderKamp gave the invocation. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen. Motion Carried.

 

**        Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed by a motion, from Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier.

c. Approval of Disbursements and Transfers

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:



 

**          A.        Adopt 425 Agreement with Village of Vicksburg: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to approve the 425 Agreement with the Village of Vicksburg concerning a liquor license. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, Vermeulen, and VanderKamp. Motion Carried.

 

            B.        Hall & Cemetery Mowing & Grounds Care Quotes for 2008: Philport gave an update on the quotes received for mowing. The contract has been awarded to Lakeside Mowing at a cost of $35 for the Hall, $55 for Jenkinson cemetery and $60 for deDie Richardson. He will also do assorted cleanup and maintenance at these locations.

 

            C.        Road Projects for 2008: Philport updated that Travis Bartholomew is the new Road Superintendent for the Road Commission, and that there are now three area foreman instead of four. The Supervisors will be contacting the MTA & KCRC concerning AG vehicles tearing up local roads. Road projects have gone out for bids this week. We are tentatively looking at doing WX Ave from 32nd to 3950 feet east of 33rd St. and dust control on all gravel roads,

 

 

 

 

            D.        South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that they are still working on moving the ambulance administrative office to the fire authority office, and that they are working on trying to put an ambulance back into service. They are also planning to upgrade the parking lot there.

 

**          E.        South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport gave numerous updates on the sewer through Portage, and the interest in going south to Three Rivers.

 

Unfinished Business: Guthrie questioned the Byholt mining project. He has all of the necessary permits for digging a pond there.


New Business: None


Report of Board Members: Guthrie reported that legislation has passed extending the P.R.E. on homes that have not sold after owners purchase a new home. Vermeulen shared a report received showing the Township has a favorably low rating on fiscal stress indicators. Philport reported that there were a lot of attendees at the Board of Review, especially lake property owners.


**          Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:40 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
