BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


March 4, 2008




Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier and Trustees VanderKamp and Guthrie.


Others Present: 3 others


Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. Vermeulen gave the invocation. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved with the addition of F. Adopt Budget. by a motion from Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie. Motion Carried.

 

**        Approval of Consent Agenda: Allgaier made a motion, seconded by Vermeulen to bring item c. forth to make the following transfer: 

 

                       From:  Fees Building Permits101-801-801   $5000

                       To:      Road Improvements   101-464-962   $5000

 

           A roll call vote brought yes votes from Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, Vermeulen, and VanderKamp. Motion Carried.

 

** The balance of the consent agenda was approved by a motion from Allgaier and seconded by Vermeulen.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:


 

A.        Public Hearing on 425 Agreement: Philport opened the Public Hearing at 7:34. He informed everyone of the provisions of the agreement covering an establishment at 606 Spruce and obtaining a liquor license. The Village will hold a public hearing on this next week. J. Burns questioned this establishment being next to a historic park. He also questioned if the stop sign at the corner of Spruce and 24th St will be monitored better for motorists running through it. Gary Gray made the statement that he hopes the plan for the 425 Agreement continues forward. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to close the public hearing at 7:44. Motion Carried.

 

**          B.        425 Aggrement with Village of Vicksburg: Philport presented the 425 agreement with the Village. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp to approve this 425 Agreement with the Village of Vicksburg. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Allgaier, Philport, Vermeulen, VanderKamp, and Guthrie. Motion Carried.

 

**          C.        Assessors Contract: Philport updated on the proposed 3-year renewal of the assessor’s contract. A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to approve this contract. Motion Carried.

 

**          D.        South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that the ambulance office is being moved to the fire authority, and that they are working on replacing a fire truck.

 

E.        South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport updated on the Schoolcraft Village Sewer project, which was defeated. The authority is still trying to find a way to help the businesses along 131 in Schoolcraft to get sewers.

F. Budget Adoption: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to adopt the proposed budget that was reviewed at the public hearing. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Vermeulen, VanderKamp, Guthrie, Allgaier, and Philport. Motion Carried.

 


Unfinished Business: None


New Business: Allgaier reported that SCMCCI is in the process of doing some restructuring due to slower activity. It was suggested that they have a person on site at the Township hall every other week instead of every week. This could also be on a 1st & 3rd or 2nd & 4th week of each month. Allgaier will work with SCMCCI to set up a schedule.
