BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


March 1, 2005



Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Guthrie and Vander Kamp.


Others Present: Approximately 5 others.


Call to Order and Pledge: The meeting was called to order at 7:37 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall by Supervisor Philport. The Invocation was given by Philport, including a short tribute to the late Supervisor Parker who passed away this week. This was followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.


**        Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed by a motion from Vander Kamp and seconded by Guthrie. Motion Carried.


**        Minutes Approval: A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to approve the minutes of the 2/01/05 general meeting. Motion Carried.


**        Treasurer’s Report: The treasurers report was approved by a motion from Allgaier and seconded by Guthrie. Motion Carried.


Communications: None.


**        Disbursements and Transfers: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to approve payment of the bills as presented. Motion Carried.


**A motion was made by Allgaier and seconded by Guthrie to transfer $1000 from 101-101-960 Township Board Education to 101-258-729 Computer Special Forms. Motion Carried.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:

 

**A.     Adopt Ordinance #102: Atty Rolfe updated on Ordinance #102, as it pertains to RTFA and the GAAMPS. After discussion A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vander Kamp to adopt this ordinance #102. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, Vermeulen, and Vander Kamp. Ordinance Adopted.

 

**B.     South County Sewer & Water Authority Resolution and Update: R. Pierson updated on the proposed Resolution which would set the sewer fees at $24 per month for User fees and $4.50 per month for Debt Service fees. After a Q & A period a motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vander Kamp to adopt this resolution. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Vander Kamp, Vermeulen, Philport, Allgaier, and Guthrie. Resolution Adopted.

 

C.        Appoint alternates to SCS&WA: A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to appoint Vander Kamp to be the alternate representative to the SCS&WA. Motion Carried.


 

D.        Set Date for Annual Meeting: Saturday, March 26th was set as the date for the Annual Meeting, to begin at 1:00. This will also be the budget hearing and special board meeting.

 

E.        Roads - Budget Report and Planning 2005: D. Taylor gave a report on what projects need to be addressed. After discussion it was decided to do dust control on all gravel roads, pulverize and double seal the remainder of 33rd St south of W Ave, and pulverize 31st street between X and YZ Ave. In preparation to be seal coated next year.

 

F.        Set date for Budget Workshop: Wednesday, March 23, at 11:30 will be a special Board meeting to finalize the 2004-2005 budget and prepare the 2005-2006 for the budget hearing/annual meeting on Saturday, March 26.

 

G.        South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority Update: Philport reported that he has been appointed the new chair. A new central office will be opened at station #16 and they will be hiring a part time office clerk soon. They are also waiting to find out if the fire truck that was damaged due to a truck hitting it in the fog, will be repaired or replaced.

 

H.        Appoint Alternate to SKCFA: Philport appointed Guthrie as our alternate representative to the South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority.

New Business: Vermeulen reminded all that there will be May 3rd election this year to handle the school issues.


Report of Board Members: Allgaier reported that she has submitted her application for a MTA scholarship, and the application for the Vicksburg Foundation grant for the Veterans Memorial.


**        Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 9:10 P.M. by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
