BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


November 11 2008




Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustees Guthrie and VanderKamp.


Others Present: None.


Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall. Philport gave the invocation, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

  

**          Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed, by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier. Motion Carried.

 

**          Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed, by a motion, from Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp.

 

1.  Approval of 10/07/08 Regular meeting minutes.

2.  Approval of Budget Report

3.  Approval of Disbursements and Transfers

4.  Communications.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:


  

**          A.        Indian Lake Assoc. Weed Control Assessment District: Philport updated on the renewal for this assessment district. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Allgaier to hold a public hearing on Tuesday 11/25/08 at 7:00 p.m. on this. Motion Carried.


**          B.        Fence at deDie Richardson Cemetery: Philport informed us of a letter from Rob Richardson concerning maintenance of the fencing at the deDie Richardson Cemetery. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to include an amount in next years budget to cover repairing the wooden fence and cleaning the chain link fence. We will then continue to maintain these fences. Motion Carried.


**          C.        HHH Waste Report and Waste Haulers: Philport reported that the contracts are signed for Kalamazoo County Waste Haulers. A motion was made by was made by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to renew our Household Hazardous Waste contract for a total of $3400. Motion Carried.


**          D.        425 Agreement with Village for Gary Gray Property: A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to hold a Public Hearing on Tuesday, 11/25/08 at 7:30 p.m. for this. Motion Carried.

 

 

E.        Methamphetamine Quarterly Report: Philport presented the quarterly report.


**          F.        Nomination for SKCFA Member: A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to appoint Lee Philport as our Representative member to the SKCFA. Motion Carried.

 

**                     A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp to also recommend Dwight Blodgett as a Member at Large to the SKCFA. Motion Carried.

 

G.   Approve Sewer Report: Philport presented and reviewed the Audit report for the SCSWA.


**          H.        Medical Insurance Percentage Adjustment: Allgaier presented figures showing the increase in medical insurance premiums over the last few years, and the amounts of co-pay. After discussion, a motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by VanderKamp to table this item until the next meeting to allow for more information from other townships. Motion Carried.


I.         Sale of Cemetery Property on YZ Avenue: A property owner next to the old cemetery property on YZ Ave. has       expressed an interest in that parcel. Philport will work with him to negotiate an offer.


J.   South Kalamazoo County Fire Authority: This was previously addressed in item F above.

 

K.   South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: This was previously addressed in item G above.

            New Business: None

 

Report of Board Members: Vermeulen requested that any Board members wishing to attend the MTA Conference in January please let her know by 12/15/08. Allgaier reported that the winter tax bills would be out by 12/01/08.


**          Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 9:00 P.M. by Vermeulen and seconded by VanderKamp to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
