BRADY TOWNSHIP BOARD MEETING


October 7, 2008




Members Present: Supervisor Philport, Clerk Vermeulen, Treasurer Allgaier, and Trustee Guthrie. Absent: Trustee VanderKamp.


Others Present: None.


Call to Order and Pledge: Philport called the meeting to order at 7:40 p.m. at the Brady Township Hall.

**          Agenda Approval: The Agenda was approved as printed, by a motion from Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen. Motion Carried.

 

**          Approval of Consent Agenda: The Consent Agenda was approved as printed, by a motion, from Vermeulen and seconded by Guthrie

 

1.  Approval of 9/02/08 Regular meeting minutes.

2.  Approval of Budget Report

3.  Approval of Disbursements and Transfers

4.  Communications.


Motion Carried.

SCHEDULED AGENDA ITEMS:


  

**          A.        Equalizer Internet Services: Allgaier explained the charges for having our Equalizer programs made available on line. After discussing the cost to the Township, a motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Vermeulen to not use this feature. Motion Carried.


**          B.        Resolution Asserting Land Use Plan Approval Authority: Vermeulen updated on this Resolution. A motion was made by Vermeulen and seconded by Allgaier to adopt this Resolution. A roll call vote brought YES votes from Guthrie, Allgaier, Philport, and Vermeulen. Absent: VanderKamp. Resolution Adopted.


**          C.        Rate of Pay for Planning Commission & ZBA members: Vermeulen gave examples of rates of pay for ZBA & PC in surrounding Townships. Ours have not had an increase in many years. A motion was made by Philport and seconded by Vermeulen to increase the rate of pay for ZBA members to $50 and chair to $55 per meeting, and PC members to $55 and $60 for chair per meeting. Motion Carried.

 

**                     A motion was made by Guthrie and seconded by Allgaier to increase the rate for the Recording Secretary for each of these Boards to $45 per meeting. Motion Carried.


            D.        Set date for Election Commission: Vermeulen set the date for the Election Commission meeting for the November 4 Primary election for Wednesday, 10/08 at 3:00 p.m.

 

            E.        South County Fire Authority Update & Audit Report: Philport reported that there was lots of work done after the recent flooding on Indian Lake, with many sand bags being provided.


F.         South County Sewer & Water Authority Update: Philport reported that they would be having a meeting to discuss legal proceedings on the sewer through Portage. Lots of extra water was put through the system after the recent storm.

 

Unfinished Business:. Allgaier presented an estimate that she received from the Postman for repairs to the gates at the Jenkinson cemetery on W Ave for a cost of approximately $320. She was given the go ahead to proceed with having these gates repaired by the Postman.


            New Business: None

 

Report of Board Members: Allgaier reported that taxes are done for the season. Guthrie said that there are numerous foreclosures for taxes at the County level, and they are trying to set up payments. Vermeulen reported on a complaint of manure being dumped on 30th St. She also reported that there have been two woodchucks trapped at the deDie Richardson cemetery that were digging holes around the gravesites. Philport explained the progress on the Gary Gray project. He is working with the County and the Village to try to get an additional 425 Agreement.


**          Adjournment: With there being no further business, a motion was made at 8:10 P.M. by Philport and seconded by Guthrie to adjourn the meeting. Motion Carried.
